A Rich History in the Propane Industry.

Keystone Propane has been in business since 1978, opening in a small office trailer in Throop, PA. Starting in the early days when coal appliances were still the norm, our family-owned and operated business has seen many shifts in the energy industry.

From the beginning, we dreamed of providing comprehensive propane solutions to our customers in Northeast PA, which we did through the acquisition of several gas businesses in the region. Purchasing the propane division of Sugarman’s Department Store opened the door for us to begin selling and servicing propane appliances such as stoves, dryers, and hot water heaters. By purchasing Pinkus and Sons, Rutherford’s Gas Company, Davis Gas Company, Lally’s Bottled Gas, and Joe Boylan’s Bottled Gas Company, we were able to expand our services to a much larger region of PA.

In 1996, we completed Northeast PA’s first Propane Rail Terminal and distribution center, which was key to the propane supply in our region. We are proud of our three generations of advancements to support more of our neighbors with trusted propane services and equipment.

Keystone Propane’s most recent acquisition took place in 2014. The purchase of Airline Petroleum’s Propane Division was a major step forward in our company’s evolution. At the time, it increased our customer base by 17% and paved the way to opening our Laceyville plant.
