This type of heating uses forced air furnaces that blow heat until the greenhouse reaches the desired temperature. A thermostat is used to maintain ideal conditions. An important point to remember is the level of waste gas in an enclosed area. Not only for humans, but for the plants, as well. A direct-vented greenhouse heater is an excellent source of heat generation while keeping emissions at a safe level.
The greenhouse heater supplies heat through the floor or panels in the walls or ceiling. That warmth is spread through radiant heat transfer. Sometimes this method is more convenient than a vented forced heat system.
A small boiler warms the water used for irrigation. This is particularly effective when plants need warmer soil temperatures for optimal growth.
Some customers use their heater to help regulate the humidity in their greenhouse. When air is warmed, the capacity of that air to hold moisture increases. However, since no new moisture is added, the relative humidity, the amount of water in the air compared to how much that air can hold, decreases.
